Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Film Festival)

The Film Festival Grant program has awarded more than $3 million to film festivals since 1999. Grants totaling $450,000 were granted to 24 U.S. film festivals in 2009. Deadline Late June; early July

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Film Scholars Program)

To stimulate and support new and significant works of film scholarship, the Academy Film Scholars program awards grants of $25,000 to two individuals each year.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Grant Institutional Program)

The Institutional Grants Program assists in fostering educational activities between the public and the film industry while encouraging the appreciation of motion pictures as both an art form and a vocation. \Deadline January.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting)

The Don and Gee Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting is the world’s most esteemed screenwriting competition. Each year up to five $30,000 fellowships are awarded to authors who have previously earned less than $5,000 writing for film or television. Deadline late April; early May.

Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation

Provides funding for visual artists who incorporate video and film into their work. The Foundation wishes to encourage artists who have dedicated their lives to developing their art, regardless of their level of commercial success.  Deadline in Early – mid Dec

CEC Artslink

ArtsLink Projects provides support to US artists, curators, presenters and arts organizations undertaking projects in any of the 32 eligible countries listed below. Applicants must be working with an artist or organization in that region and projects should be designed to benefit participants and audiences in both the US and the host country.

Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation Scholarships

The Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation was established in 1988 to support individuals, institutions and organizations committed to educational excellence and professional development. To that end, in addition to the Broadcast Education Association, the Foundation has established several other ongoing grant and scholarship programs. The King Family Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program, which awards up to $7,000 to junior- and senior-level students majoring in television, film and related fields and who demonstrate academic ability, financial need and professional potential.

Creative Capital Foundation (Multi-Arts Production Fund)

Grants Focuses on Emerging Fields, Innovative Literature and Performing Arts. Emerging Fields may include all forms of digital arts, audio work, multidisciplinary projects and new genres. Innovative Literature may include poetry, fiction, nonfiction, as well as genre-defying work by writers who demonstrate exceptional stylistic, linguistic, and formal originality. Performing Arts may include dance, music, theater, experimental music performance, experimental opera, spoken word, theater/performance art and interdisciplinary projects.

Duke University CDS Filmmaker Award

This $7,500 prize recognizes documentary films that combine originality and creativity with firsthand experience in examining central issues of contemporary life and culture.

The Ford Foundation

A fundamental challenge facing every society is to create political, economic and social systems that promote peace, human welfare and the sustainability of the environment on which life depends.

Women Arts – Cinedreach Grants

Large granting program for emerging and established filmmakers. Grants range from $5,000 – $50,000 for feature and documentary films in all stages of production.

IFP Fiscal Sponsorship

Projects Fiscally Sponsored by IFP are able to give donors the incentive of a charitable deduction for income tax purposes, a service individual filmmakers could not otherwise offer.

Independent Television Service (ITVS)

Each year ITVS funds, distributes and promotes new programs produced by independent producers primarily for public television and beyond. ITVS is looking for proposals which increase diversity on public television.

Mister Rogers Memorial Scholarship

The Television Academy Foundation’s Mister Rogers Memorial Scholarship Program awards two $10,000 scholarships to graduating seniors (must be continuing directly to graduate school) and graduate students (Masters or Ph.D) to support and encourage them to pursue a career in children’s media.

National Endowment of the Arts

Fellowships in fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction enable recipients to set aside time for writing, research, travel, and general career advancement. Non-matching grants are for $25,000.

National Film Preservation Foundation

The NFPF offers several types of preservation grants supporting the creation of preservation and access copies of American orphan films of historic and cultural interest.

Roy W. Dean Editing/Writing/Film/Video/Research Grants

This grant is available to low, low budget ($500,000.00 and under) Indie films, documentaries and shorts that are unique and make a contribution to society. To enter this grant complete the on-line application, send us your proposal or outline for the film and some of your completed film on DVD or VHS.

Offers a variety of grant programs, including Carole Fielding Student Grants & KODAK Scholarship Program. The UFVA is an international organization where media production and writing meets the history, theory and criticism of the media.

Women in Film Foundation

The joint Women In Film and Women In Film Foundation Scholarship program offers women of all ages and background the opportunity to create careers in film, television, communications and new media.

Women in Film Dallas

In keeping with WIFD’s mission to empower, promote, and mentor, we provide several opportunities for female filmmakers and students to receive the financial support they need to help them on their journey as professionals in the industry.

Women in Media

The Alliance for Women in Media Austin Affiliate scholarship applications for the 2022-2023 school year ARE OPEN! This $5,000 scholarship is awarded to a college Sophomore, Junior, or Senior studying media or a related field at a university in the Austin area (within a 40-mile radius from Austin), to be used for undergraduate tuition.
