Ash Kinney d’Harcourt earned their PhD in cognitive psychology at the University of Texas at Austin where they studied how people produce and perceive language. Currently, they are a PhD student in the Radio-Television-Film program at UT where they continue to be intrigued by how people communicate, now from the perspective of how it is done through media. Their research takes a critical approach to the increasingly diverse and evolving nature of screen cultures and investigates how cultural producers work within and shape the media industry landscape. They have authored several chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles on the creative industries with a focus on feminist, queer and transgender voices in media storytelling. In addition to their research, Ash has been an instructor of media, communication and psychology courses for over a decade and is thrilled to become a part of the Austin Community College community this Fall.
