This series introduces ACC Faculty and Staff to the ways that art can be a tool for connecting to our shared humanity and building an overall sense of wellness. Through engaging with art, we have the opportunity to learn more about the experiences of our peers, as well as ourselves. In this way, art can act as a vehicle for self-care, as well as caring for our coworkers, students, and colleagues. Through various activities that involve looking at art, making art, and talking about art, we will learn the ways that art can assist us in cultivating a lifestyle centered around wellness. No experience necessary. All are welcome – whether you appreciate art, actively create art, or do not have any artistic experience at all.

Please register here. All sessions will take place in-person on Highland Campus in Gallery 2000 (HLC 2.2450). For questions, please email [email protected] or [email protected]

Visualization and Arts-based Meditations

December 1, 1:00pm – 2:00pm

In this session, participants will be led through a guided meditation with an artwork by ACC alumni and artist, Michael Villarreal. In his work, Villarreal often reflects on his deep-seated bonds to his family home. After this, we will explore what spaces bring us comfort and tranquility in our lives.
