Gary Webernick is a multi-media visual artist and studio arts educator who resides in Seguin, Texas. He has taught at various art schools, colleges, and universities in the United States. For nearly 30 years, he has taught at Austin Community College; for 18 of those years, he served as Art Department Chair at ACC. Gary has recently retired from full-time teaching, moving to an adjunct position that focuses on 3D Studio Art. He has worked in a variety of media that includes painting, sculpture, mixed-media installations, photography, video, and books. Gary’s work has been exhibited internationally, is held in private and public collections, and has been featured in a variety of publications. He is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts/Rockefeller Grant for Interdisciplinary Artists, in addition to other artist grants, which include an Installation Grant from the Austin Museum of Art, an Individual Artist Grant as an artist working in Anchorage, Alaska, and an Alaska State Travel Grant from the Alaska State Council for the Arts. Gary is a founding member, Vice President, Chair of Exhibits, and member of the Board of Directors for the Texas Sculpture Group, a non-profit statewide arts organization and affiliate of the International Sculpture Center. He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and has earned an Associate of Arts degree from Broward College in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma.
