Women of Valor
Take a closer look at the Women of Valor by Andrea Clearfield. Ms. Clearfield is an award-winning American composer of music for opera, orchestra, chorus, chamber ensembles, dance, and multimedia collaborations. She joined ACC and UIW for a joint production of her work, Women of Valor. Women of Valor is a celebration of women from the Old Testament. The cantata was inspired by a midrash (biblical commentary) on Proverbs where each line of the biblical text from Proverbs 31 represents a biblical woman. Women of Valor Highlights the stories of Sarah, Leah, Rachel, and more.
Interview with Dr. Jose Flores
Dr. Jose Flores was the director of the Corpus Christi Area youth Orchestra and was recently hired to build ACC’s Orchestral and Strings program. Dr. Flores is a remarkable musician and has been an advocate for orchestral music for as long as he can remember. In addition to leading the youth program, he was the Director of Orchestral Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and has been a professor of violin and viola since 2006, among many other astounding accomplishments.
We spoke with Dr. Flores to learn more about his goals for the ACC program, the value of music education and more.

Catalina Hill – Cat was a voice student of Dr. Blythe Cates and was featured in the role of Miriam in the Spring 2024, ACC production of The Scarf by Lee Hoiby. They competed in the Texoma National Association of Teachers of Singing and were recently accepted to study at the prestigious San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Cat will be continuing their education under the guidance of renowned mezzo-soprano, Suzanne Metzner.
