SharonSharon Davis has had the great privilege of playing the flute for over 40 years. For the past 15 years, she has been Professor of Flute at Austin Community College. She has conducted the Chamber Music Program, developed online curriculum for the DL music courses and teaches Music Appreciation.

Professor Davis is currently the principal flutist with the Austin Civic Orchestra and a founding member of ACC’s Faculty Woodwind Quintet. Additionally, she plays with a professional guitarist in the Davis Duo, and was the Featured Guest Artist of the Central Texas Flute Festival in 2018.

Professor Davis has performed as a featured soloist with the Oklahoma Symphony, University of Oklahoma Symphony, twice with the Austin Civic Orchestra and just recently, with the Austin Community College Choir.

Professor Davis received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Oklahoma, and her Master of Music Performance in Flute from Baylor University. While at Baylor, Professor Davis taught Woodwind Methods and flute students. At Southwestern University in Georgetown, she taught Marching Band Techniques and was Adjunct Instructor of Flute.

At the University of Oklahoma, Professor Davis studied with Christine Smith and Valerie Watts. During that time she also studied with Walfrid Kujala (Chicago Symphony and Northeastern State University in Illinois), Bonita Boyd (Eastman School of Music, New York) and Stephen Kujala (Freelance Jazz Flutist).

At Baylor University, Professor Davis worked as a Graduate Assistant in teaching flute students while studying with Helen Ann Shanley (a student of George Morey and Marcel Moyse). While at Baylor, she also studied with Julius Baker (Julliard School of Music).
