HannahHannah Durham is a musicologist whose research interests include popular music aesthetics, genre studies, audience studies, canonicity, and criticism. She received her PhD in Musicology from the University of Texas at Austin with a dissertation entitled “The Past in the Present: Rock Ideology and Canon in the 1980s.” Dr. Durham has presented research on rock criticism and reception history, and has contributed to essays on college music curricula. Beginning in Fall 2025, she will serve as the Director of General Education – Music area within ACC’s Music Department, in which she will explore and develop the curricular possibilities of the Music Literature, Music Appreciation, and American Music courses. Additionally, Dr. Durham serves as High School Liaison for all dual credit music courses. She is excited about collaborating with fellow ACC music faculty to enhance the scope and depth of content in music history courses to advance an equitable and empowering student experience.
