AlexAlex Browne is the Adjunct Professor of Electric Bass, Double Bass and Jazz Bass, as well as instructor of America’s Music at Austin Community College. Alex Browne has also taught the Music Appreciation course at ACC.

A native of Houston, Texas, Alex Browne performed in the TMEA All State Philharmonic Orchestra as a High School student and went on to receive a Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music from the University of Texas at Austin. Alex Browne maintains a busy performance schedule in Central Texas and beyond, and fosters a reputation as a versatile and reliable electric and upright bassist for both live and studio work. He is also a proud endorsee of Genzler Amplification.

Notable performances include dates with Matchmaker Band, Ben Sollee, Red Young, DJ Sparr, San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Woody Witt, Gil Del Bosque, Tonic Big Band, The Two O’Clock Lab Band, as well as groups under his own name and countless others. He has performed at historic venues such as The Folks Festival in Lyons, Colorado, The Egg in Albany, New York, The Tobin Center in San Antonio and The Elephant Room in Austin.

In addition to his academic and musical pursuits, Alex is an avid yogi and enjoys cooking. He lives in Austin with his Fiancé Katya and Chihuahua Joni.
