Yunina Barbour-Payne identifies as a scholar/artist who has experience as a performer, dramaturg, director and playwright. Yunina currently is a Ph.D. in Performance as Public Practice student at The University of Texas at Austin. Some of her more recent stage credits include: A Christmas Carol (Penfold Theatre Company) A Midsummer’s Nights Dream (Penfold Theatre Company) War of the World’s (Penfold Theatre Company) Everybody (Austin Community College) Macbeth (Penfold Theatre) Burst! (University of Texas at Austin Theatre & Dance), and Harry and the Thief (Spectrum Theatre Company). As a dramaturg, she has worked with Gesel Mason Performance Projects on Yes, And and the Contemporary American Theatre Festival. Yunina also has a passion for Theatre for and with youth. She has been a Teaching Artist and Director for the Young Performer’s Program at the Ensemble Theatre in Houston, Texas since 2012.
