We train students in practical skills to help them find employment when they graduate. Typically, projects are completed <strong>over the course of one semester.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past our students have designed materials for the Elizabet Ney Museum, The Art Galleries at ACC, ACC RTF Student Showcase, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether your project might be a good fit depends on the scope of your project and your timeline.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#eeeeee\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-normal-font-size\">Post an Internship<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Internships are a great way for students to earn credit while learning from real experience. If you&#8217;re interested in hiring an intern, consider the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students must work a <strong>minimum<\/strong> of 12\u201320 hours per week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Paid<\/strong> internships are preferred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student&#8217;s direct <strong>supervisor<\/strong> should act&nbsp;as a creative director. There are many advantages when students participate in an internship, including acquiring &#8220;real-world&#8221; work experience and developing useful employment contacts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Internship class:<\/strong> There are several criteria to consider, the first of which is your time frame. We offer a for-credit internship course which follows the ACC academic schedule for spring, summer and fall semesters (16 weeks in spring and fall, 11 weeks in the summer). If the internship is unpaid, students work a minimum of 12 hours, and no more than 18 hours per week. If you pay an intern, you and the student can determine how many hours he or she will work.<\/p>\n<p>To be approved to take this class, the student will need to have completed at least 30 hours toward a degree of certificate in the VisCom department. Interns are available in the areas of Graphic Design and Production or User Experience\u00a0Design.<\/p>\n<p>If you interview and accept one of our intern students, you and the student will develop objectives for the student to meet by the end of the semester. During the course of the semester, the student must be supervised by someone in the workplace who will assist the student in the acquiring of skills that will benefit them professionally in their area of study. At the end of the semester the student submits a work report to the course instructor and receives a grade for the class.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unofficial Internships:<\/strong> Often companies contact VisCom with an internship position that doesn&#8217;t follow ACC&#8217;s academic schedule or is for a short-term project. These unofficial internships may still benefit a VisCom student, and an email announcement is sent to students.<\/p>\n<p>A few things employers should consider about unofficial internships:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student contacts employer directly and is not pre-approved by an instructor<\/li>\n<li>Student does not receive class credit<\/li>\n<li>Availability of interns varies depending upon student&#8217;s area of study<\/li>\n<li>Meeting the guidelines of the Fair Labor Standards Act that governs internships is entirely up to the employer. Visit this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/whd\/regs\/compliance\/whdfs71.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Labor site<\/a> for further information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For either type of internship, we&#8217;ll need more information about what you are looking for. Please fill out this short questionnaire, and we&#8217;ll send a confirmation email within one week of
