Perry Crafton, MFA, Associate Professor of Drama<\/strong>,\u00a0holds the BFA from Sam Houston State University and the MFA from The University of\u00a0Arizona and is currently an Associate Professor of Drama at Austin Community College. From 1998-2010\u00a0he served as Director of the Theatre Program for West Texas A&M University.<\/p>\n

His work as a director has been recognized on the state, region and national levels through his\u00a0participation in the Kennedy Center\/American College Theatre Festival while at WTAMU. The five\u00a0productions he directed for this festival received over 50 collective awards including two productions\u00a0that were invited to perform at the Region VI Festival (The Old Boy<\/em> in 2004, and Rabbit Hole<\/em> in 2008).\u00a0The Old Boy<\/em> received the Richard A. Weaver Directors\u2019 Choice Award for the best production of the 2004\u00a0Region VI Festival.<\/p>\n

He has also coached 14 Regional Finalists for the KC\/ACTF Irene Ryan Scholarship Auditions including a\u00a0National Finalist who performed at the Kennedy Center in 2004, and the Region VI First Runner-Up to\u00a0the National Finals in 2010.<\/p>\n

Recent ACC Directing credits include Farragut North<\/em>, Reckless<\/em> and Tape<\/em>. Additional credits include\u00a0Ordinary People<\/em> for Stephen F. Austin High School, and Inherit the Wind<\/em> for The City Theatre.<\/p>\n

Perry is an active member of the Texas Educational Theatre Association where he is currently on the\u00a0Board of Directors as the Chair of the Higher Education Section. He is a Past Chair of the Texas Theatre\u00a0Adjudicators and Officials of which he has been a member and a UIL One-Act Play Adjudicator since\u00a01996. He has had the honor of judging the State UIL One-Act Play Contest for Conferences AA (2004 and\u00a02015), A (2006), AAAAA (2010), AAAA (2012) and AAA (2013). He is also an Associate Member of the\u00a0Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.<\/p>\n

He is a three-time nominee for ACC\u2019s Teaching Excellence Award, and teaches Acting I, II and III, Voice &\u00a0Diction and Introduction to Theatre.<\/p>\n
