He earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Austin and worked in a variety of roles in public education before beginning his work at ACC. Paul is currently a professor and Department Chair for the Audio Technology & Industry department, where he is dedicated to training and preparing the next generation of musicians, engineers, and business people for work in the industry. As a recording engineer, Paul recorded countless bands from the Austin underground scene through his work at Sweatbox Studio, and continues to work, produce, and mix a variety of projects on his own. He has also played in several local bands including his current project March and Beauty, as well as ongoing collaborations with Barry Stone (Porchswing Orchestra). Christina Carmona is a classically trained singer and college music instructor with over 20 years of experience performing on stage. While her roots are in classical music, she
has worked professionally in the commercial music industry for over a decade, and has toured with her band internationally, recorded in professional studios across the country,
received album distribution with record label support in the U.S., U.K., and Japan, and has been featured in numerous esteemed publications.<\/p>\n

In addition to her personal experience navigating the music industry, Christina\u2019s formal
education includes a B.A. in Psychology, A.A. in Music Performance, and M.A. in Music Business. She is able to bridge a connection between her learned experience and instructional knowledge, bringing a unique, hands-on perspective to her teaching and
mentorship. Christina\u2019s teaching style emphasizes creativity and the development of each student\u2019s individual voice. She teaches Applied Voice, Theory for the Working
Musician, Small Commercial Music Ensemble, and Internship.<\/p>\n

Kurtis was born in Clearwater Florida and lived there until moving to Austin in 1987. Since then, he has been active in the Austin music community as an engineer\/producer and member of several bands. Kurtis has three decades of experience designing, building and maintaining recording studios and knows a beautiful rock from a plain one.<\/p>\n

Kurtis has owned and managed Million Dollar Sound recording studio since 1999 and has been the Recording Studio Manager for ACC’s ATI department since 2001.<\/p>\n

Kayla Perez is an Administrative Specialist for the Radio-Television-Film and Audio T<\/span>echnology & Industry departments at Austin Community College, where she provides\u00a0<\/span>comprehensive administrative and creative support to faculty, staff, and students. She also enjoys photographing and recording departmental events, capturing the vibrant energy of the college\u2019s creative community.<\/span><\/p>\n

A proud third-generation East Austinite, Kayla is deeply rooted in her community. Inspired by\u00a0<\/span>her mother\u2019s example of service, she began volunteering at a young age and has spent over 15\u00a0<\/span>years supporting youth and families through Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Her commitment to community also extends to her work with On-Point Reentry Consortium and other local organizations that serve justice-impacted individuals and their families.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to her administrative career, Kayla is the owner of a family-run apparel business s<\/span>pecializing in custom merchandise and LIVE screen printing, proudly operating for more than\u00a0<\/span>20 years. Her entrepreneurial journey reflects her creativity, passion for design, community c<\/span>onnection, and hands-on collaboration.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0With a lifelong interest in photography, music, film, and audio production, Kayla uses her c<\/span>reative skills to celebrate people, culture, and community events. She holds a Bachelor of C<\/span>ommunication and is a certified Offender Employment Specialist through the National Institute o<\/span>f Corrections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Conor Bell was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and has been involved in music his whole life, playing drums, bass, and programming electronic music. He earned his degree in
Music from the College of San Mateo, California in 2007.<\/p>\n

Relocating to Austin, Texas in 2009 he received his degree in Audio Engineering from Austin
Community College in 2016 and has worked in audio primarily in live sound for the last 10 years. Conor has been teaching at Austin Community College since 2021. He currently teaches Audio Engineering 101 and applied lessons for Drums, Bass, and Recording\/Live Sound.<\/p>\n

Dan was born in Caracas, Venezuela and due to his father\u2019s work as a petroleum
engineer, was raised wherever there was oil…. Venezuela, the Far East, the
Middle East, Africa, Europe, etc.<\/p>\n

As an Audio professional, Dan works as a freelance engineer and producer
working out of some of the best studios in Austin recording a wide variety of
music and artists. He particularly enjoys live recording and has engineered events
for the Austin City Limits Music Festival, SXSW, The Austin Symphony, The Austin
Lyric Opera, Widespread Panic, The Black Crowes, Buddy Guy, Lyle Lovett, Los
Lobos, The Gypsy Kings, and Franz Ferdinand.<\/p>\n

Dan has been teaching at Austin Community College since 2002 (!) and has taught a\u00a0variety of audio production classes and currently teaches Audio Engineering 3 and one-on-one Applied classes.<\/p>\n

Dan\u2019s current favorite musical artist is Luke McQuery of the Nashville band
Kelley\u2019s Heroes.<\/p>\n

Justin Doulgas has been producing and engineering for over 20 years and is the owner of King Electric Recording here in Austin. His experience spans thousands of recordings, including multi-platinum and Grammy-winning albums, feature films, and numerous community engagement initiatives aimed at bringing access to audio recording facilities to historically marginalized populations. Justin has a B.A. in Music Production & Engineering from Berklee College of Music and currently teached Audio Engineering I at ACC. Nick Landis is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Music Business, Performance, and Technology department at Austin Community College. He currently teaches Acoustics and Applied Audio Engineering, where he brings real-world experience and industry insight into the classroom.<\/p>\n

Nick has been a full-time mastering engineer since 2005 and has mastered over 5,000 projects across a wide variety of musical styles. His work has earned a Grammy nomination, and he is a long-standing member of the Recording Academy, having served as Chapter Governor and Vice President. He is also an active member of the Audio Engineering Society and a former Chapter President. Nick holds a Bachelor of Music in Sound Recording Technology and has a passion for both technical precision and creative collaboration. He has been teaching at ACC since 2019 and enjoys mentoring the next generation of audio professionals.<\/p>\n

Jake Reading born in Atlanta, GA began playing guitar the summer he first moved out to the
middle of nowhere Texas. Being mostly self-taught he learned independence and creativity as it
applied to music which eventually motivated him to buy his first audio interface and begin
writing\/recording songs. With no experience and nothing but the drive to make things \u201csound
cool\u201d he began recording his music as well as his friend\u2019s music. The newfound passion
eventually brought him to Austin back in 2011 where he began studying audio production at the
Art Institute of Austin. Upon his graduation in 2013 he began his freelance career doing live
sound, as well as recording projects with local Austin artists. Over the years, he has worked at a
wide variety of events and spaces from small bar gigs and house shows to corporate events,
places of worship, and larger-scale music venues. Jake began teaching at Austin Community
College in Spring 2024 and aims to share his passion and excitement for audio and music with
his students.<\/p>\n

Since earning a music degree from Berklee College of Music, my musical experience has been broad. I have performed in Rock, Pop, Blues, Country, Latin and Americana bands around the USA and Europe and have recorded and\/or produced dozens of albums in these genres. I founded, owned and was the music director of a successful, private music school for over 15 years and have taught thousands of private and group music lessons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I continue to get excited when learning something new and find it rewarding to play a small role in the students\u2019 excitement for learning as it extends my own passion for music. At best, the student\/teacher relationship is reciprocal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Debbie established her consulting practice, Thoughts In Order, in 1997, and is devoted to teaching music professionals to get their act together with systems for organizing and productivity that actually work for creative minds. Her most recent book is The Organized Musician and her next book, Modern Music Patronage,

Prior to moving to Houston in 2002 to work with the Knowles family, she lived in Europe and worked for companies like Universal Music and music tech start-up SoundArtist. Heather is currently in her sixth year with Austin Community College as an Adjunct
Professor teaching \u201cMarketing and PR for Creatives\u201d in the Audio, Technology and Industry program. Her class is one of three core courses in the newly launched ACL University in partnership with C3 Presents. Heather is a twenty-year board member of the Texas Chapter of The Recording Academy and has been on the advisory board of Sonic Guild for over a decade. She is also a former member of the Austin Music Commission. Her favorite artist?
She truly can\u2019t list one. But the Beastie Boys did help inspire her early music passion in the 7th grade (be sure to ask her about that story!). She is also a big fan of ABBA.<\/p>\n

Jean has been teaching Concert Promotion and Venue Management at Austin Community College since 1999. She brings over three decades of experience in concert and event production, performing arts marketing, and nonprofit leadership. As Executive Director of Old Settler\u2019s Music Festival from 2006 to 2020, she led the organization from financial distress to national acclaim, expanding it into a $1.4 million enterprise with 18,000 annual attendees and permanent infrastructure. Jean has produced a range of community events, including Leakey\u2019s July Jubilee, and consulted with major arts organizations across the country through her work with Arts Consulting Group and JKS Works. Her expertise includes strategic planning, marketing, fundraising, financial management, and talent curation. She holds an MBA from the University of Hartford and a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Maryland. Francis Preve is the Section Lead for the Digital Composition track at Austin Community College (ACC) and has been an adjunct professor since 1996, teaching courses in MIDI, Synthesis, Sound Design, Remixing, and Audio Engineering in the ATI department. As a professional sound designer, his clientele includes Ableton, Korg, Roland, Xfer, Avid and Sequential. He has also produced multiple Top 10 releases on the Billboard Dance and Beatport charts. Having authored three books for the music imprints Hal Leonard and Backbeat in the 00s, Preve has also shared his research and knowledge with thousands of readers.<\/p>\n

Francis serves on the Board of Advisors for The Bob Moog Foundation and as a Music Technology Advisor for South by Southwest (SXSW). In 2004, he developed advanced electronic production courses at the request of then ATI Department Chair, Geoffrey Schulman, which have since been adopted by other Texas community colleges. Now entering his third decade at ACC, Preve continues to bring his real-world industry experience to our students.<\/p>\n

Nathan Montgomery is a musician, educator, and composer with over 30 years of experience. He holds a B.A. in Jazz Performance from Wayne State University and completed graduate coursework in Secondary Education at the University of Phoenix. His specialties include fretted instruments, music theory, composition, and music technology. As a freelance musician, he has recorded solo albums, toured nationally, and worked with acclaimed artists. Nathan currently teaches MIDI 1, Synthesis 1, and applied lessons at ACC, blending inspiration, technology, and technique to support student growth.<\/p>\n

John-Michael Reed aka John-Mike has been teaching about synthesisers, electronics, and related audio fields since 2009. In 2007 he founded Bleep Labs, a company that designed and produced a variety of synthesisers and educational devices. He has also constructed large scale interactive light installations for events such as Creek Show and TEMPO, collaborated with artist to create custom devices, and is the technical director for cotfg, a community focused arts organization in that puts on shows of all types in Austin.
Currently he is teaching Audio Electronics and in the past has taught MIDI and Modular synthesis.<\/p>\n

Ben Buck has been a performing artist in Austin since 2013, he is a beatboxer, DJ, rapper, producer and videographer. He is also the founder of Speaker Bump Presents, a cassette tape label that has put out over 250 projects on tape for artists around the country. Also a collector of vintage audio and video equipment, and has began an archiving business and runs visuals across Austin. Buck is proficient in Serato, Ableton, Davinci Resolve; and also with hardware such as loop pedals, MPC\u2019s and various samplers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2023 he won Hip Hop Artist of the Year in the Austin Chronicle Awards. He also was awarded his own day from the city of Austin on April 13th, declared \u201cBen Buck Day\u201d by Mayor Kirk Watson. He has beatboxed for notable artists such as Ghostface Killah, Czarface and Bushwick Bill of the Geto Boys and was interviewed by Eric Andre on his Austin stop for the \u201cEric Andre Explosion Tour\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chuck Medlin brings a lifelong passion for music to ACC\u2019s Audio Technology and Industry department, where he teaches Live Sound 1, Live Sound 2, and Sound System Optimization. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Audio Production from the Art Institute of Austin, an Associate of Science in Commercial Music Management, and a small business certificate from ACC. With more than 19 years of studio experience and over 10,000 live sets to his credit, Chuck remains actively involved in the
local music scene\u2014engineering at local venues and producing ACC\u2019s Flex Factory, where he trains students in a range of professional audio engineering roles.<\/p>\n

Chuck\u2019s teaching philosophy centers on building a strong foundation and fostering
student\u2019s confidence to be the next generation of audio professionals. He is dedicated to helping students grow and succeed, offering hands-on opportunities both in and outside the classroom. Beyond his teaching and professional work, Chuck enjoys playing bass,

Brian Donohoe teaches applied piano and applied composition for Austin Community College\u2019s departments of Music and ATI. His work as a composer, arranger, pianist\/ keyboardist, and saxophonist includes credits with Grammy winners and nominees including Bruno Mars, the Black Pumas, and Snarky Puppy, as well as many more. His work with Adrian Quesada led to an Oscar nomination in 2025. Active in the Austin music scene for over a decade, Sara L. Houser\u2019s contributions have never been singular. Much of her career has been defined by her behind the scenes roles as a sought after collaborator in the studio world (Spoon, Golden Dawn Arkestra, Walker Lukens) and as a
touring musician for big name acts Zella Day and Matthew Logan Vasquez.<\/p>\n

In 2021, she departed from her long standing indie rock outfit L\u00f6win and started releasing music as S. L. Houser. Her new record, Hibiscus, was re-released on vinyl in 2024 in partnership with
Spaceflight Records and Try Hard Coffee. S. L. Houser was the KUTX January Artist of the Month in 2024 and was nominated for Musician of the Year in the Austin Chronicle\u2019s Austin Music Awards (2024, 2025). Houser is a producer, arranger and music educator. She is currently working on a follow up album to Hibiscus as well as continuing her composition work through her LLC Sirenhouse Music.<\/p>\n

I started playing the guitar when I was 10 years old, studying with my first teacher and picking up songs by ear until I got older. As a teenager, I performed professionally as a solo guitarist, in rock bands, and as a member of the rhythm section in a Big Band. After graduating high school, I received a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, where I studied Guitar Performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout my time at Berklee, I studied Fingerstyle, Jazz, Latin\/Fusion, R&B\/Neo-Soul, and Rock Guitar Styles. I have experience as a Musical Theatre Pit Guitarist for shows like Mamma Mia, Seussical, and Rock of Ages. I have performed across the country in a diverse range of genres with varying instrumentation. When I\u2019m not on stage or in the pit I do studio work as a sessions guitarist. I have experience recording for contemporary artists as well as with an orchestra in the studio for film scoring projects. As a working musician, I know how important it is to diversify your skill set and keep a growth mindset.<\/span><\/p>\n

    As a Baton Rouge-born, Austin-based singer-songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, and educator, the majority of my professional work has been as a commercial musician playing in bands, nationally. My musical journey began at a young age, as I grew up under both classical and contemporary training by renowned guitar and vocal teachers such as Susan Fernandez, Thomas Echols, David Bernard, Patrick Kerber, John Konesky, Guy Van Duser, Abigail Zocher, and Bobby Stanton.\u00a0 A full-tuition recipient of Berklee College of Music\u2019s Six String Theory scholarship, I graduated with honors, double majoring in Guitar Performance and Music Business Management.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    I primarily focus on acoustic fingerstyle guitar, country, Western swing, folk, Americana, country, bluegrass, pop, and rock. Most recently, I have toured nationally with folk artist MALINDA, performed alongside Tommy Emmanuel at the annual Chet Atkins Convention, appeared on PBS\u2019s <\/span>Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour<\/span><\/i> with Eric Johnson, recorded regularly as a singer-songwriter and as a hired studio musician for other projects.\u00a0 I also have professional experience as a SXSW music venue manager and am a summer faculty member at Berklee College of Music.<\/span><\/p>\n

    With 20 years of industry experience, my teaching philosophy revolves around guiding students toward their most authentic artistic expression, while also developing a strong technical foundation.\u00a0 I strive to create a positive, supportive environment that inspires creativity, growth, artistic risk-taking, and inclusivity.\u00a0 I tailor my teaching to the individual needs of each student and prepare students to not only succeed academically, but as adaptable and professional musicians.<\/span>

    If you’re looking for a voice teacher who has been on stage, in the studio, behind the scenes, and under the lights, Delaney Gibson Moon brings a rare blend of industry experience, technical training, and creative heart.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    With over 1,000 performances across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, Delaney has sung backup for legends like Barbra Streisand, David Foster, and Barry Manilow. She toured the UK with the band Wheatus and has performed on major television shows including Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Emmys, Boston Public, and Baywatch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Vocal Performance and began studying voice at just nine years old. Since then, she has grown into a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and performer. Her music has been featured on MTV, Oxygen, Freeform, and in national campaigns for Intel and Chevy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    As half of the electro-pop duo SIGNY, she signed to an Austin and London-based label and spent seven years writing, releasing, and performing original music around the world. She placed third in the world at the Eisteddfod Music Festival in Wales, an honor broadcast live on the BBC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
