Melanie Hickerson received her MFA from The University of Texas at Austin. She is an experienced artist whose work is in the permanent collection of The University of Texas at San Antonio and a number of private collections around the world. Melanie continues to actively exhibit and execute commissions. She has lived and worked in Rome, New York City, Berkeley, California, and Austin, Texas. In 1993 and again in 1996, she was invited to have solo exhibitions at Ceres Gallery in New York City. Her work has been exhibited at Austin City Hall in 2011, 2015, and 2016. She was a panel moderator for a session called \u201cDefining and Developing Women\u2019s Iconography\u201d at the 1997 WCA National Convention in Philadelphia, which was one of her favorite experiences. Among the many places that she has traveled, Guangzhou, China ranks as one that has left a lasting impression on her.
